I have had dysmenorrhea for the earliest stage of my life when I started menstruating and that was aside menstruating in JSS2. I was menstruating for 13 days after then, it ceases for a while and came back after a few months, but the thing is that I have had dysmenorrhea all my life. In secondary school I was known for that girl who got admitted for being on her period because I’ll be on drips.
I’ll be in the hospital for days just because I’m on my period so it was really crazy for me and not like I’m not still experiencing it, but now I’m experiencing like heavy flow on my period and it’s very uncomfortable for me because I can’t do anything. I always pray not to be at work when I’m on my period and honestly, it has been going well for me because whenever my period comes, my work is so stressful for me, because the pain was so excruciating. I don’t know what kind of pain that is that. It’s so bad I will not be able to walk.
I’ve been going to see the gynaecologist regularly and now being told things that will help regulate my period and feel less pain as I used to which has really worked for me. I’m now a full-blown adult who is not having to go through that kind of pain (you know: vomiting, fainting, going to the hospital just because of my period). So, a lot of people don’t know the kind of struggle that we’ve gone through just being a woman and experiencing things like that and I’m happy that I’m not experiencing those things anymore.
I’m happy that I can live my life not having to worry about hospital and all of that. This article is really interesting you know, it’s such an awareness for people to understand what really goes down in women bodies.
